We have a floor

The ground floor under floor heating has been installed and the concrete floor laid over the top.
The floor should be dry when the workforce returns after the Christmas Holiday.
Then all steam ahead.

We have windows

It was all hands on deck today.

The plumbers were putting pipes in the kitchen and utility room and the floor preparation was underway.

Celetex insulation is going down on the block and beam floor and that will be followed by the underfloor heating next week.

On Wednesday (subject to weather) 3" of cement and floor screed will be applied to all the ground floor.

The floor should dry out over Christmas so work should not be interrupted on return in January.

The window fitters were on site as well. They are fitting the first floor windows at the front.

Things are taking shape and we hope the weather holds and the snow and ice stay away.

Plastering

The upstairs is being plastered and should be finished tomorrow.
The downstairs floor is being prepared for underfloor heating and the new floor should be laid next week and will hopefully be drying out over Christmas.

Big freeze halts build

Progress has been a bit slow on site as sub zero temperatures halted the plastering, frozen pipes and freezing temperatures stopped the plasterers working. The chippies have been heros, only missing 2 days.

Well now the plastering is underway and the side roof has been completed.

We have moved houses and all appears to be going well in that department.

I will attempt to get some photos uploaded this week.

K-rend and plastering

Just a few pics to show the exterior K-Rend on the side wall and pics to show that the plastering has actually started.
The plastering will be stopping tomorrow as it is too cold unless the builders can come up with some good heaters.
The build schedule will be falling behind again as everything is now subject to the weather, which is freezing, especially on the coast.

It's getting cold

It was certainly cold on site today and the carpenters really felt it as they are working on the side roof. There are no rear windows yet, so the whole site is like a deep freeze.

Holmans have completed the first fix on the data cabling, as you can see from the photo we have a few cables, well actually we have loads of cables, it is amazing.

Most of the upstairs has been plaster boarded and the plasterer should be plastering tomorrow.

The electrician has almost finished the first fix as well.

We are now awaiting the chap to do the K-rendering to the side wall so that the roof can go on. This looks like it may hold the whole job up and we need to get it done so that the floor can go down before Christmas, this would give it a good chance to dry over the Christmas period.

Plasterboard going up

Just a few pics of the first floor, you can see the plasterboard has started to go up and you can also just make out the ducting for the air handling system.
Pipes and wires everywhere.
Things are starting to take shape.
Holmans in Wimborne have been brilliant. They have sorted out our sound system and speakers and also our data points throughout the house, we would highly recommend them.

All trades on site

Only two photos, sorry, I will take some more over the weekend when the site is empty and the light is better.
Well now for the update, all trades have been on site this week, we have had
Allergy Plus installing the ducting for the Air Handling System.
Paul and team installing the Solar Panel bits, plumbing and underfloor heating for the bathrooms.
Steve the electrician running wires all over the place for the lighting circuits up stairs.
Brickies constructing the outside steps and doing fiddly brick bits above the first floor front windows.
The tilers have been back to put on the ridge tiles.
The chippies have finished the stud work for the upstairs and are now inserting really thick insulation, talk about toasty, it is really thick.
Brian and I have sorted out the mirrors for the bathrooms and have found just the right lights for the bedrooms, collecting tomorrow.
The site office has been taken away to allow more room at the front so that the footings for the front walls can start, probably a few weeks away, but it is a start.
All the windows are now on order and hopefully they will arrive before the chippies freeze to death, the wind can be very cruel straight off the sea and the plastic sheeting has a few holes appearing in it.
Excellent progress this week, long may it last.

The stud work takes shape

Just a few pics of the first floor stud work walls.
Things are taking shape.

Yay the tiles are on - we have a roof

Things are progressing at last.

We have a roof on the house, the roof has been boarded and tiled and the velux windows have gone in.

The solar panels should be going up on the roof next Tuesday all being well.

The scaffolding is due to come down next Thursday and then the spray rendering can be applied to the top half of the house.

Today we had a site meeting with the electricians about the first fix. They should be on site next Wednesday to mark the walls and ceilings for sockets and lights.

The stud work walls are taking shape upstairs marking out the bedrooms and bathrooms.

The site hut at the front is due for removal next Friday to clear the front garden so that the foundations can go in for the walls.

So all in all a good day.

The roof is taking shape

Steady progress is being made with the roof, the joists are all up bar the overhang at the front and back and the 3/4 plywood sheets are being nailed on, with spaces being left for the velux windows.
The steps down from the lounge have had their footings dug and a row of breeze block have been cemented into place.
What with exchanging contracts on our house today things are looking good.
